What is NVQSL?

NVQSL stands for National Vocational Qualifications of Sri Lanka. It is a unified qualification framework which is nationally recognized and understood internationally. The NVQs are based on National Competency Standards identified by the industry stakeholders. This framework has been developed integrating technical/ vocational and higher education.

All NVQ courses conducted by the OCUSL are taught under Competency Based Training (CBT) Curricular. Quality of the courses assured by obtaining regional Centre accreditation and course accreditation the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka. As partial requirement of the accreditation QIS and QMS are implemented in all centers.

NVQ Levels There are seven NVQ Levels ranging from Level 1 to Level 7.

NVQ Level 1 to 4 are Certificate Level courses. Once all units comprising a particular level has been successfully completed, the student is eligible to receive a National certificate at the applicable level.

NVQ Level 5 and 6 are Diploma level courses. A student will be able to receive National Diploma and Higher National Diploma certificate for NVQ Level 5 and 6 courses respectively, once she/he earns the required credits specified in the relevant competency standards.
NVQ Level 7 is degree level courses. Student who completed the required credits specified in the degree programme is awarded B. Tech. Degree.

What is SLQF?

Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF) is a framework aimed at improving quality of higher education and training through recognizing and accrediting qualifications offered by different institutions. It helps to interpret qualifications and judge the relative value of a qualification. SLQF recognizes the outcomes achieved after formal secondary education.

It integrates the National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF) developed by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and identifies flexible pathways which assist in lateral mobility between vocational education and higher education sectors by providing basis for recognizing prior learning and credit transfer

NVQ Certificates from TVEC

After completion of the all the NVQ course offered by the Ocean University of Sri Lanka, you will be directed to acquire relevant NVQ Level Certificate from the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka.
