Sports Club

The Sports Club of Ocean University of Sri Lanka was established in 2013 and through this association opportunities is provided to the university students to elevate the Ocean University to greater heights in the field of sports.

From the past mainly ocean university cricket (Hard and Soft ball) and volleyball teams participates to all the main tournaments in Sri Lanka. From the presence Rugby, Football, Netball, Badminton, Carom, Chess are also well developed. Including Gymnasium, Volleyball Courts, Badminton Courts etc.

Cricket

Title

Hard ball cricket team is the main sports team of the University, bringing exposure to the university. International Mora Sixers, Redbull Campus Cricket Tournament and Leader’s Trophy are the main tournaments that our team annually participates and wins from the matches between other universities. With the help of Mr. Mark Brendon (Head Coach of Ocean University Cricket Team) this team perform well in these tournaments.

Soft ball team also gained many wins from other University.

Volleyball

Volleyball team also a main sports team in the University. This team also gained many wins from the main tournaments held by other universities. Leader’s Trophy, NDED Trophy are the main tournaments that our team annually participates and gained many wins from the matches between other universities.

Sports Meet

Sports meet is a event organized by the freshers with the guidance of the sports club. The new comers gets the opportunity to evaluate all their skills in sports. Best performance will be chosen from each sport and the trophies will be awarded to the winners at the end of the event.

Sagara Sixers

Sagara Sixers

The sports club of Ocean University of Sri Lanka was established in 2013 and the first event was Sagara Sixers, held on 28th of December 2013.“Sagara Sixers” Is the biggest soft ball cricket tournament which is conducted by Ocean university sports club each year for the every government and private universities to engage in sports collaboration. Because of the Sagara Sixes tournament, other universities got aware of Ocean university. Now it has become more popular as people from other universities tend to contact us and receive information about it. Finally the trophies and cash cheques will be awarded to the winners.

Before the Sagara Sixers tournament, Sports Club invites to other universities team captains to our University to participation for Trophy Launching Ceremony. From that we design the match schedule by selecting the numbers by those captains.

Tournament like “Before Sagara Sixers”, which also held by the Sports Club for the Undergraduates of Ocean University, two or three weeks prior to “Sagara Sixers”.

Ocean Aces

Ocean Aces

“Ocean Aces” Volleyball tournament creates a common platform for both Government Universities and Private Higher Educational Institutions to engage in the sport in collaboration. Its started on 2016 and annually held by sports club from Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. Finally the trophies and cash cheques will be awarded to the winners.

Tournament like “Before Ocean Aces”, which also held by the sports club for the undergraduates of ocean university, two or three weeks prior to “Ocean Aces”.
