The Ocean University of Sri-Lanka (OCUSL) is a pioneer university in fisheries and maritime sector. OCUSL set its objective to conduct academic and professional education and vocational training activities in fisheries, marine and nautical engineering to fulfill and develop the needs of the fisheries and allied sector. In order to accomplish the key object, there are major divisions, Training and Higher Education. We are coming under the training division and one from 8 regional centres located different regions in Sri-Lanka. We are unique in many aspects and located in Panadura city in Kalutara District, one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities on the coast. With the objective of keeping mandate with University’s mission, vision and objective, we presently conduct number of mobile, certificate, and diploma courses which are help to enhance the harmonious coexistence between human beings and the ocean and other aquatic environments and supports sustainable development. We have been, since its establishment, devoted to the academic development of talented minds to meet the strategic, economic and social needs of Sri-Lanka and beyond. We are proud that we have developed into a comprehensive regional centre that offers a broad range of diploma and certificate courses in Aquaculture and fisheries, Marine engineering and Maritime Logistics. At present we have more than 150 diploma students (NVQ LEVEL 5) and certificate level (NVQ LEVEL 3 ,4) students studying here, supported by over 20 academics (including visiting lecturers) and 5 administrative staff. The 21st century is an ocean-focused century and, inspired by this, as unique regional center of Ocean University, our goal is to develop a next generation, who are well-equipped with knowledge, attitudes and skills relevant to the sector. The combination of educating the next generation of thinkers and leaders, our on-going aim of making Sri-Lanka increasingly strong through rapid and sustainable development. As well as ,we are a dynamic community and look forward to taking this voyage with colleagues and friends from around the world, to explore the oceans and beyond and to write the next chapter in research and education together.
