The Ocean University of Sri Lanka (OCUSL) is a special purpose government University established by a parliament act with an aim of developing the human resources requirement to achieve the economic benefits of Marine, Maritime, Fisheries and allied technology sectors. Ocean University unlike other conventional universities in the island is conducting courses both Undergraduate and Vocational level. The two academic pathways have been designed to cater the requirement of highly specialized human resources both in academic and skilled sectors with an aim of expanding the Blue Economy.

        I entered the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Ocean University of Sri Lanka in 2012, and that is the place that provided me with the foundation to reach the place that I am in today. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree with specialization in Fisheries and Marine Science aided me to enter to Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) in aquatic biology followed by research at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
