The world’s oceans are at the heart of global sustainability, providing vital resources, regulating the climate, and supporting the livelihoods of millions. Today, with growing pressures from climate change, overexploitation, and environmental degradation, the importance of advancing marine research has never been greater. Recognizing this need, the Ocean University of Sri Lanka proudly hosts the International Symposium for Ocean Research – 2025 (iSOR ‘25) under the overarching theme “Marine Sciences for Sustainable Oceans.”
This annual event provides a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, academics, professionals, and students to share cutting-edge knowledge and foster collaboration across diverse fields of marine and ocean sciences. This year conference features nine dynamic tracks, Coastal and Marine Environmental Management, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Seafood Science and Technology, Marine Engineering and Technology, Oceanography and Hydrography, GIS and Remote Sensing Applications for Marine Science, Maritime Transportation, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management, Fisheries Socioeconomics and Marketing and Marine Biotechnology.
Through iSOR ‘25, we aim to stimulate dialogue, strengthen research networks, and inspire actionable solutions that support sustainable ocean governance and management. By bringing together national and international expertise, the symposium serves as a catalyst for advancing knowledge, innovation, and partnerships toward the shared vision of sustainable oceans.
