Ocean University International Research Conference (iSOR) is organized by the Ocean University of Sri Lanka (OCUSL). The conference aims to bring together academics, scientists, researchers, and research students from Sri Lankan and international universities and institutes, providing them with an international platform to share their research findings across diverse themes in Science and Technology.
The conference theme is intentionally broad to accommodate a wide range of disciplines, including Marine Science, Marine Engineering, Coastal Resources Management, Maritime Logistics, Aquaculture and Seafood Technology, and Marine Biotechnology. This multidisciplinary approach enables the conference to showcase technological advancements and innovative research outcomes relevant to the marine and maritime sectors.
The OCUSL Proceedings of the International Research Symposium serves as the official digital archive and scholarly publication platform of the Ocean University of Sri Lanka’s flagship research event. This comprehensive repository brings together high-quality research papers, extended abstracts, technical studies, and academic contributions presented at the annual OCUSL International Research Symposium—an event dedicated to advancing knowledge across marine, maritime, fisheries, aquaculture, ocean engineering, coastal management, environmental sciences, and other ocean-related disciplines.
The proceedings platform is designed to highlight the intellectual output of researchers, academics, professionals, and students who contribute to the evolving scientific and industrial landscape of the ocean sector. Each publication undergoes a rigorous review process to ensure academic integrity, originality, and relevance, making the proceedings a trusted reference source for scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and industry stakeholders.
By providing open access to research findings, the OCUSL Proceedings supports the global exchange of knowledge, encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthens the university’s commitment to research transparency and innovation. The platform also helps amplify impactful discoveries, innovative methodologies, and evidence-based solutions that address contemporary challenges facing marine ecosystems, coastal communities, and ocean-dependent industries.
Through this digital repository, the Ocean University of Sri Lanka aims to foster a culture of scholarly excellence, promote sustainable ocean research, and contribute to national and international scientific dialogues. The OCUSL Proceedings of the International Research Symposium stands as a testament to the university’s dedication to nurturing future researchers, generating new knowledge, and driving meaningful contributions toward a sustainable and resilient ocean future.

The world’s oceans are at the heart of global sustainability, providing vital resources, regulating the climate, and supporting the livelihoods of millions. Today, with growing pressures from climate change, overexploitation, and environmental degradation, the importance of advancing marine research has never been greater. Recognizing this need, the Ocean University of Sri Lanka proudly hosts the International Symposium for Ocean Research – 2025 (iSOR ‘25) under the overarching theme “Marine Sciences for Sustainable Oceans.”
This annual event provides a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, academics, professionals, and students to share cutting-edge knowledge and foster collaboration across diverse fields of marine and ocean sciences. This year conference features nine dynamic tracks, Coastal and Marine Environmental Management, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Seafood Science and Technology, Marine Engineering and Technology, Oceanography and Hydrography, GIS and Remote Sensing Applications for Marine Science, Maritime Transportation, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management, Fisheries Socioeconomics and Marketing and Marine Biotechnology.
Through iSOR ‘25, we aim to stimulate dialogue, strengthen research networks, and inspire actionable solutions that support sustainable ocean governance and management. By bringing together national and international expertise, the symposium serves as a catalyst for advancing knowledge, innovation, and partnerships toward the shared vision of sustainable oceans.
